Susie still receives fan mail from all over the world because of her role as Log Cabin Girl in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’. Following the film’s release, she was asked by producer Cubby Broccoli and production company United Artists to travel the world on promotional tours, visiting destinations including Japan, Australia and South America.

Embracing a healthy lifestyle is fundamentally important to Susie, which is why she is an advocate of yoga and practices it regularly. Having been previously diagnosed with cancer, she credits following a healthy diet as being key to her recovery from the disease. As well as being a successful actress, Sue Vanner is also an accomplished vocal artist. She recorded six songs for RCA Records alongside well-loved singer/songwriter Chris Andrews; among them was ‘Don’t Pity Me’, which is now considered a Northern Soul classic. Copies of the original record have been known to sell for £1,000.

 

Susie is a big fan of Northern Soul, a music and dance movement that originated in the late 1960s in the north of England and the midlands. A fast tempo and a heavy beat characterize the genre. The History of Northern Soul is another topic that will be covered on this blog.

 

Susie continues to work in the music industry today; in 2020, she released a new album called ‘In These Shoes’ produced by Grammy and Emmy award winner Kipper Eldridge; they have continued to collaborate and will release her highly-anticipated new album in summer 2022.

 

After acting in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, Susie continued to enjoy a successful film career, acting in films such as ‘Nighthawks’ opposite Sylvester Stallone and ‘A Man Called Intrepid’ with David Niven.
